Three SJFCU Lending Staff Earn Accreditation
as Certified Credit Counselors

Deptford, NJ -- (January 22, 2010) – Three staff members of the lending department of South Jersey Federal Credit Union (SJFCU) recently earned accreditation as Certified Credit Counselors from the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors (NACCC).

Successfully completing the course of study and final examination were (pictured, from left):

  • James Hartmann, SJFCU Vice President/Lending, a Mantua Township resident,
  • Veronica Cowley, SJFCU Loan Officer, a resident of Washington Township, and
  • Nicholas Marchionne, SJFCU Loan Officer, who resides in Williamstown.

The NACCC is a non-profit, membership based organization that oversees the continuing education and certification requirements of its members.

The additional training and certification earned by Hartmann, Cowley and Marchionne is another tool by which they can offer guidance to credit union members in varied areas of financial health.

Among the areas that trained NACCC counselors cover in their course of study before taking the accreditation examination are the Fair Debit Collection Practices Act, detecting harmful spending habits, setting up debt management programs, bankruptcy laws, and negotiating with creditors. In the largely unregulated debt counseling industry, certification by the NACCC remains a gold standard for financial professionals.
