New Operations Center Rising at Deptford
Deptford, NJ – (September, 2008) – With backhoes and bulldozers as a backdrop, officials of South Jersey Federal Credit Union (SJFCU) broke ground on a new 30,000-square-foot Operations Center, directly behind the Deptford headquarters branch. Joining SJFCU officials and board members at the ceremonial groundbreaking were representatives of R2Architects Inc., of Voorhees, and IMC Construction of Malvern, Pa., the construction management firm overseeing the project. Pictured at the August groundbreaking event are, from left, Benjamin T. Griffith, SJFCU president/CEO; James Puderbach, chairman, SJFCU board of directors; Paul Medany, Deptford Township mayor; John Ruiz, R2Architects; and Ted Jeffries, senior contract manager, IMC Construction. The new two-story operations center is expected to be completed in summer 2009. It will complement the existing Deptford headquarters branch building, which remains open for business as usual through the duration of the construction process. Growth of various SJFCU administrative departments – including lending, accounting and other support functions – created the need for more space. The current branch building will continue to serve as a branch after the operations center is complete. “The growth evidenced by our physical plant expansion is due to our steady growth in business,” said Benjamin T. Griffith, president/CEO of SJFCU. “That growth is thanks to the hard work and dedication of our employees.”
